About
Brian Inkster is the founder and CEO of Inksters Solicitors. He is a Solicitor and Notary Public.
Brian has an active interest in entrepreneurship, marketing, technology and regulation in relation to running a law firm. Brian is regularly engaged to speak on these matters at legal summits, conferences, universities, retreats and events.
Managing Partner of the Year, Solicitor of the Year and ‘A One Man Scottish Legal Institution’
Brian Inkster was named Managing Partner of the Year at the Law Awards of Scotland 2014 and Solicitor of the Year at the Law Awards of Scotland 2006. He was called ‘a one man Scottish legal institution‘ in the Recommended Law Firm Guide 2010.
Legal Entrepreneur
Mitch Kowalski in his book, ‘The Great Legal Reformation: Notes from the Field‘, writes:-
Brian Inkster reminds me of what Elvis Costello would look like if he had become a lawyer: Inkster has an understated, new-wave coolness about him that fits nicely with his role as a legal entrepreneur-and he does kind of look like Elvis Costello in his prime. Kind of.
Maverick for ‘Plug & Play Law’
Brian has been referred to as a ‘Maverick‘ by insider.co.uk (the online sister website of Scottish Business Insider, Scotland’s oldest business magazine) for his expansion of Inksters using a Plug & Play Law Platform where senior lawyers can work as a collective, with enhanced technology and back-office support. Where a hub-and-spoke model exists with a back office “hub” (in Glasgow) and “spokes” elsewhere.
Inksters is one of the very earliest, and currently the largest (both by number of consultant solicitors and offices), fee-sharing law firms operating in Scotland.
FSB Awards
Brian’s development of ‘Plug & Play Law’ resulted in Inksters being awarded the Scottish and then the UK Self-employed / Sole Trader of the Year Award at the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) Celebrating Small Business Awards 2022.
Tutoring and Lecturing
Brian tutored and then lectured for several years in Business, Ethics, Finance and Practice Awareness (latterly a course just called Commercial Awareness) for the Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Glasgow.
Past, Present and Future Practice of Law
Through The Time Blawg, Brian expresses his views on the past, present and future practice of law.
